Rökona Textilwerk GmbH & Co. KG was established in 1962 by textile engineer Gerhard Rösch in Tübingen as a fabric and development supplier for the parent company in the nightwear segment.
In 1965, Rökona expanded its operations with new warp knitting machines and started to supply customers from the automotive sector.
1971 saw investments into a 52-m-long finishing line as well as the first high-pressure cylinder in the dye works. The construction of the kindergarten was started in the same year. From that point in time, Rökona has been focussing on the technical textile segment.
In 1974, Rökona sets new standards by introducing the 100% quality control system.
In 1992, the company Rösch Kft was established in Hungary as a manufacturing site and sales office, which has since then been continuously expanded. Three years later, Rökona established another production site in Tübingen. The warp knitting factory has since then been accommodated on this 6.000-sqm area.
In 2004, Rökona established a joint venture in Ningbo/China to supply the Chinese market.
In 2011, Rösch Kft invested in a new laser cutter for the precision cutting of plastic-based textiles for technical applications.
The Rökona Sales Office Far East in Shanghai was opened in 2012. In the same year, Rökona made an investment in a fully automatic fabric inspection system in Tübingen.
2014, Rökona Textilwerk GmbH & Co. KG is being managed as a family-owned business in the third generation and supplies 27 countries worldwide from its headquarters in Tübingen.
